Le candele di Gini Fragranze: il respiro della terra

E' cosa nota, ho un debole per le candele e se non ve ne parlo spesso è solo perchè provare una fragranza è più facile che provare una candela. Il bello della candela rispetto agli altri modi di profumare un ambiente è che bisogna viverla. Una volta accesa è come un focolare che va custodito, che diffonde calore, luce e fragranza, che fa compagnia mentre ce la godiamo da soli e aggiunge atmosfera se stiamo con qualcuno. Nelle sere invernali godo spesso della compagnia di una candela ed un bicchiere di vino quindi lo scorso settembre nei giorni di Pitti Fragranze ho accettato con grande entusiasmo l'invito di amici appassionati di vino e profumi a scoprire le candele di Gini Fragranze.

Gini Candles: the breath of the earth

It's well known I have a weakness for candles and the only reason I don't write more often about them is because testing a fragrance is easier than testing a candle. Unlike other home fragrances, the beauty of candles is you have to live with it. Once lit, it is like a fireplace that needs you to look after it and diffuses heat, light and fragrance. It makes good company if you enojy it on your own and adds a certain atmosphere if you're with someone. During the winter evenings I often enjoy burning candles while sipping a glass of wine, that's why during the days of Pitti Fragranze I got entusiastic when some friends passionate about scents and wine invited me to discover Gini Fragranze candles.

Anche quest'anno ho preparato l'albero e come sempre non mancano le letterine che ogni natale preparo con tanti campioncini senza nome per quelli che hanno voglia di divertirsi un po' assieme sniffando alla cieca. Se gli altri anni vi ha stuzzicato il gioco, ora è l'occasione buona per mettere alla prova il vosto naso: il Blind Sniff Roulette è tornato! Per chi non sa come funziona, avete presente cosa sia la roulette cinese? Un giocatore pensa ad un personaggio ad esempio e gli altri giocatori devono indovinare di chi si tratta solo tramite domande del tipo "Se fosse un colore?". Il Blind Sniff Roulette, funziona invece al contrario, cioè i partecipanti riceveranno tre fialette misteriose contrassegnate da un numero. Dovrete poi rispondere alle sette domande "Se fosse..." come se io non sapessi di che profumo si tratta motivando ogni risposta in base alle note, all'evoluzione o comunque a qualsiasi impressione e idea il profumo vi abbia suggerito. Ne uscirà così una recensione insolita e divertente di sinestesie con il mondo dell'olfatto.

Avrete una settimana di tempo per provarle e rispondere ai sette "Se fosse" che poi posterò qui svelando il nome delle fragranze. Lo scopo del gioco non è indovinare di quali fragranze si tratta ma chi se la sente è libero anche di tentare. L'importante è lasciarsi andare e vedere quali associazioni curiose vi suggeriscono le fragranze.

If the game teased you the past years, here's your chance to challenge your nose: the Blind Sniff Roulette is back!
For who doesn't know how it works, do you have in mind what a chinese roulette is? A player thinks to a parsonality for example and other players have to guess who's him just making questions like "If it'd be a colour what it would be?".The Blind Sniff Roulette is the reverse game where participants will receive three mysterious vials tagged with a number. You will have to answer to the seven questions "If it'd be..." as I wouldn't know anything about the scents. You will have to explain the reasons of your replies basing on the notes, the evolution and anyway on every impression and idea the fragrance suggested you. The result will be an unusual and funny review made by synaestesia with the olfactory world.
You will have a week to try the scents and reply to the seven "If it'd be" that I later will post here disclosing the name of the fragrances. The goal of the game is not to guess the fragrances anyway feel free to do it if you like. The important thing is to let yourself express and see what kind of curious associations fragrances conjure up.

Mona di Orio Oiro: fado per Mona

Fado è una parola portoghese che deriva dal latino fatum, destino. Il Fado è un canto popolare tradizionale che nasce da un sentimento particolare, un canto di lutto ma anche di vita, che mescola il riso al pianto, è la malinconia condivisa che unisce e fa compagnia. Cantando questo demone ti prende l'anima nel ricordo, è il canto del fato che è ricordo e assenza. Proprio un anno fa il fato si è compiuto per la cara Mona, lasciandoci come unico inestimabile tesoro le sue creazioni cariche di personalità e classe, proprio come lei. Ho deciso allora di ricordarla partendo da dove tutto è cominciato, dalle sue origini italo-portoghesi ed in particolare da un'altra parola portoghese, dal tesoro più brillante: Oiro, oro.

Fado is a portuguese word which derives from the latin fatum, destiny. Fado is a popular traditional music that springs from a particular feeling, a mourning song which also speaks about life. It mixes laughter with tears, it's shared melancholy turning into company. While singing, its daemon takes your soul bringing back memories, it's the song of destiny made of remembrance and absence. Right one year ago the dear Mona fulfilled her destiny leaving us with the inestimable treasure of her creations loaded with class and personality, just like her. So I decided to remember her starting from where it all began, from her italo-portuguese origins and in particular from another portuguese word, from the most shining treasure: Oiro, gold.
