I often choose the second fragrance to play with with the purpose of bringing to your nostrins something unusual. We are again in front of a creation by perfumer
Sophia Grojsman but we're at Malle's house and this is a home fragrance.
Russian Nights, was created as a scented candle but given its success it was also made as a room spray and incense. The simple structure of home scents seems perfect for the Grojsman-style playing here with the dramatic contrast between the hieratic cold cashmeran (steel grey, organ music, gregorian chant, the Three Kings, The name of the rose, Waiting for Godot) and the almost medicinal warmth of a cinnamon, clove and nutmeg mix (bisquits, scarf, apothecary, brown, red). The base is soft, winning (panther, fox, jazz club) and diffusive and longlasting with musks, ambery woods and iris notes also featured in
Paris and other creations.

if it would be a colour? Brown because it's crisp on top and it makes me think of toasted bread, of the surface of a well baked bisquit.
if it'd be an animal? It would be a furry animal, one of those bearing winter and low temperatures. It has a mink head with an amber tinged fur and the tail like a silver fox.
if it'd be music? It would be some organ music: I feel strong hints of incense in the heart.
if it'd be a place? The factory, Andy Warhol's studio. It goes on and on with the contrast between the brown of a classic office armchair/couch and the silver grey of some details.
if it'd be a cloth? It would be a Xmas present, so I'm thinking of a heavy woolen scarf.
if it'd be a movie/book? It'd be a b/w cult movie, Mel Brooks Frankenstein Junior.
if it would be a personality (storical, pubblic,...)? The Three Kings offering incense and myhrr, so aromatic balsam and metal.

Adoration of the Magi - Gentile da Fabriano (1423) |
GiampaoloI had a crush on the content of the second vial of the Blind Sniff. Nevertheless, it's been a tough job to understand it: it's an abstract smell with spicy notes (cloves?) and a strong almond/iris/heliotrope note giving a very powdery sensation. I was puzzled because at first I thought I was smelling my favourite flower, carnation.
if it'd be a colour? It makes me think of gray/lilac strokes with red shades.
if it'd be an animal? A moth because of the aerial, powdery and obscure character of the fragrance.
if it'd be music? Opus17 by Dustin O' Halloran, the melody included in the soundtraco of Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette.
if it'd be a place? It makes me think of a walk through the silent ruins of an archeological site at dusk.
if it'd be a cloth? Some light garnment that can be easily forgotten, like a light silk scarf.
if it'd be a movie/book? It would be Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola.
if it'd be a personality (storical, pubblic,...)? Godot from S. Beckett's play "Waiting for Godot".
Lorenzo This was really tough for us (Lorenzo plays the game together with his partner Virginia)! It's a smell coming from a monastry apothecary.
if it'd be a colour? If it'd be a colour, it would be brown like a medicinal tincture or ginseng pomade.
if it'd be an animal? It would be a deer, maybe a beaver, an animal living in the woods. Otherwise it would be a stuffed animal on top of a medieval hall door.
if it'd be music? If it'd be music, it could be a gregorian chant.
if it'd be a place? It would be an ancient apothecary, a chemist shop.
if it'd be a cloth? It would be a tirolese hunting outfit.
if it'd be a movie/book? It would be The name of the rose hands down.
if it'd be a personality (storical, pubblic,...)? Ildegarda of Bingen: faith healer, herbalist, erudite and mystic.
Marina The second fragrance of the Blind Sniff Roulette engages the senses with a charming spicy trail veiling the of mystery and sensual elegance.
if it'd be a colour? Amaranth red with its charming retro allure, dark and mysterious.
if it'd be an animal? A panther walking stealthy and sensual.
if it'd be music? The swing side of jazz music from the '30s.
if it'd be a place? The clubs from that era: mellow music and soft lights, warm and snug.
if it'd be a cloth? An elegant dark red velvet evening gown paired with black satin Opera gloves and shining jet jewels.

Evening Gown by Yves Saint Laurent for Dior (1958) |
if it'd be a movie/book? It would be The scarlet letter.
if it'd be a personality (storical, pubblic,...)? It would be Gabrielle Chanel always putting on red lipstik to brighten her smile.
