Settembre 1945, le cicatrici della guerra sono ancora fresche a Parigi. Alla fermata della metro Étoile un uomo si avvicina a Yuri Gutsatz: "Voi non mi conoscete? Sono Jean Carles. Cercate lavoro?". Anche se non avete mai sentito parlare di Yuri Gutsatz, credo basti questo aneddoto per capire che parliamo di un grande della profumeria dal destino avventuroso, ma soprattutto che ci ha lasciato un grande insegnamento sull'arte della profumeria.
In seguito a questo incontro, Yuri Gutsatz lavorerà per oltre trent'anni in Givaudan (allora Roure Bertrand Fils et Justin Dupont), ma soprattutto fonderà nel 1975 Le Jardin Retrouvé, il primo marchio di profumeria indipendente appena prima che Jean Laporte ne seguisse l'esempio con L'Artisan Parfumeur.

September 1945, the scars of WWI are still fresh in Parigi. At the subway Étoile Platform a man comes close to Yuri Gutsatz: "Don't you know me? I am Jean Carles. Are you looking for a job?". Even if you've never heard before about Yuri Gutsatz, I think this anecdote is enough to let you understand we're talking about a great guy of perfumery with an adventurous life, but above all who left us a great lesson about perfumery as an art.
After that meeting, Yuri Gutsatz will work at Givaudan (Roure Bertrand Fils et Justin Dupont back in time) for more than thirty years and later in 1975 will enstablish Le Jardin Retrouvé, the first independent niche perfume house right before Jean Laporte would follow his example with L'Artisan Parfumeur.

Contrapposta ad un vinciano nero immacolato, l'imperfezione dei corpi diventa la forma più sublime di sessualità bruta nell'arte di Mustafa Sabbagh. Annusando Féminité du Bois non riesco a pensare ad una descrizione più azzeccata delle parole di Mustafa “l'imperfezione è verità”. Nel 1992, contrapponendo l'aspetto più pungente di fiori e legni, eterni simboli sessuali infusi in bois pour femme neo-deco, Feminité du Bois ha rivelato il lato maschile della femminilità e vice-versa, quasi fosse una novella Dama con l'ermellino.

Set against a Da Vinci-like immaculate black, the imperfection of bodies becomes the most sublime form of raw sexuality in Mustafa Sabbagh's art.  Smelling Féminité du Bois I can’t think of a better description than Mustafa’s words “imperfection is truth”. Back in 1992, juxtaposing the poignant side of flowers and woods, eternal sexual symbols set in a neo-deco bois pour femme, Feminité du Bois revealed the masculine side of femininity and vice-versa like a newborn olfactory Lady with an ermine.

Vieni, osserva, tocca, ascolta, annusa, assaggia, emozionati! Questo è l'invito che l'artista Gaetano Pesce lancia per festeggiare i suoi sessant'anni di attività con la mostra promossa dal Comune di Firenze a cura di Sergio Risaliti e Vittorio Sgarbi Maestà Tradita 1956-2016 allestita fino all'8 febbraio 2017 presso il Museo Novecento a Firenze.
Oltre ad apprezzare la creatività dissacrante di Pesce, vi voglio segnalare l'esposizione per la particolare presentazione multisensoriale con cui si preannuncia soprattutto per quanto riguarda l'olfatto. L'Archistar infatti ha voluto collaborare con l'Atelier TAF di Leonardo Opali. vulcanico appassionato vicentino che ha mosso i primi passi odorosi alla fucina di Smell Atelier. Conoscendo Leonardo sin dale prime edizioni dello Smell Festival di Bologna, non ho resistito dal fargli qualche domanda su questo entusiasmante progetto.
