Monsieur Balmain (1964)

"La bella moda è evoluzione, non rivoluzione" Pierre Balmain

Quando Pierre Balmain in un'intervista diede questa definizione della moda, oramai era un couturier leggendario famoso per aver vestito le teste coronate di mezzo mondo e le star di Hollywood fasciandone le curve con la sua eleganza classica e un po' coquette da Jolie Madame. Ma se la moda di Balmain è conservativa, la sua scia olfattiva è decisamente impertinente se non rivoluzionaria e segna gli anni del dopoguerra con lo stile brutale di Germaine Cellier. Così nel 1964, mentre escono in stampa le sue memorie I miei anni e le mie stagioni, Balmain volle lanciare la sua prima fragranza maschile, Monsieur Balmain che sarà uno degli ultimi capolavori creati dalla impetuosa Germaine.

When Pierre Balmain during an interview gave this definition of fashion, he was already a legendary fashion designer famous for dressing the crowned heads of half world and Hollywood stars wrapping their curves with the classic coquettish elegance of his Jolie Madame. But if Balmain's fashion is conservative, its olfactory trail is decidedly cheeky if not revolutionary and marks the postwar years with the bold style of Germaine Cellier. So in 1964, while publishing his memories My years and seasons, Balmain wanted to launch his first masculine fragrance, Monsieur Balmain which is one of the last masterpieces the imperious Germaine left us.

Ci sono profumi che entrano nella nostra vita senza chiedere permesso a un'età in cui non abbiamo altri strumenti per capirli che il naso. Grazie a mia nonna paterna ho conosciuto Y di Yves Saint Laurent negli anni '70. Bella e vanitosa, il suo ricordo e più legato a quella scia verde che a grandi slanci affettivi e forse è per quello che è entrato nel mio spazio emozionale come una specie di abbraccio invisibile. A gennaio 2014 questo chypre glorioso ha compiuto cinquant'anni, perciò voglio festeggiarlo ballando con una delle muse più Saint Laurent che mai: Zizi Jeanmaire!

Y by Yves Saint Laurent (1964): un truc en plumes

There are perfumes that step into our life without asking permission at an age when we don't have anything but our nose to understand them. Thanks to my paternal grandmother I met Y by Yves Saint Laurent during the '70s. Beautiful and vain, her memory is more related to that green trail rather than to bursts of love and maybe that's why it entered my emotional world like a sort of invisible embrace. On January 2014 this glorious chypre celebrated its 50th birthday, let's celebrate dancing with one of the muses more Saint Laurent than ever: Zizi Jeanmaire!

Vero.Profumo

Oltre a lanciare l'extait de parfum di Mito, Vero Kern porta a Firenze le sue nuove Voile d'Extrait di Onda, Rubj, Kiki e Mito. Stessa formulazione degli extrait ma in una concentrazione più ariosa a metà strada con le più fruttate eau de parfum. Mi è piaciuta particolarmente questa incarnazione di Kiki che esprime al meglio l'avvolgenza edibile del fondo ma lascia volare la lavanda in una scia superchic.

Amouage

Il fato che crea gli incontri cruciali della vita fortunatamente ha fatto incontrare Christopher Chong e Dorothée Piot di Robertet per creare Fate Woman, uno chypre orientale con la firma del classico frankincenso silver di Amouage. Sulla pelle di diversi amici rendeva un bellissimo sillage, col tocco vegetale del chili che intriga e trascina verso l'elegante fondo poudré.

While launching Mito extait de parfum, Vero Kern takes to Florence her new Onda, Rubj, Kiki and Mito Voile d'Extrait. Same formula of the extrait but more airy, in a concentration halfway with the fruitier eau de parfum. I particularly liked this embodiment of Kiki which renders at its best the almost edible, enveloping base yet makes lavender fly in a uberchic trail.

Amouage

Fate that creates crucial encounters in life fortunately led Christopher Chong and Dorothée Piot of Robertet meet each other to create Fate Woman, a quite unusual oriental chypre featuring the classic Amouage silver frankincense signature. Smelling it on several friends I got a beautiful sillage with the vegetal touch of chili pepper teasing and letting you to the elegant powdery base.

Nell'anteprima del mio Scent Diary per Pitti Fragranze vi avevo già parlato di Mito, l'ultima fragranza di Vero Kern presentata alla stampa esattamente un anno fa in un caldo pomeriggio. Parlando e gustando Mito, ricordo l'eleganza disinvolta di Vero in un completo bianco, occhiali da sole ed il dettaglio glamour di un foulard animalier. Il suo stile non segue le mode e si veste prima di tutto di personalità rendendo ogni indumento un raffinato accessorio. Ciò che colpisce però è la sua vivacità, quell'instancabile creatività capace di trarre ispirazione da una foto o dalla musica, da un libro o da uno dei suoi tanti viaggi. L'arte di Frau Vero nasce in estratto, e dopo aver lanciato un vero chypre verde floreale come non se ne sentivano da lustri, valeva la pena di attendere per scrivere una recensione. La bellezza richiede pazienza ed ora finalmente ho tra le mani un campione di Mito extrait de parfum. Spruzzo e godo.

Inside the preview of my Scent Diary for Pitti Fragranze I already told you about Mito, the latest fragrance from the swiss perfumer Vero Kern launched exactly one year ago during a press event in a hot afternoon. While speaking and sniffing Mito, I remember Vero's effortless elegance wearing a white suit, sunglasses and the glamour detail of a leopard print silk scarf. Her style doesn't follow fashion trends and first of all wears personality making every other garnment just a refined accessory. What strikes though it's her liveliness, that tireless creativity that's able to take inspiration from a picture or a piece of music, from a book or from one of her many journeys. Frau Vero's art starts with extraits, so after launching a true green-florar chypre like we haven't seen any in more than a decade, it was worth waiting to write a review. Beauty takes her time but finally I have in my hands a sample of Mito extrait de parfum. Let me spray and enjoy.
